I have taught both group and private training classes and have always enjoyed my time with both. However, the more private training I did, the more I realized how much more effective it really is. My clients understood their dogs better and were able to communicate with them more effectively. The dogs learned faster too! They were in their home environment and didn't have all the distractions that a group class can bring. When I taught to a group, I had to address all training lessons to the class as a whole, no matter if most of the dogs knew the exercise already or if some of the students were falling behind. With private training, you aren't learning things you already know, and the lessons are tailored to go at you and your dog's own pace. I make sure you and your dog learn the exercises so you can both succeed at training.
Listed below are the main reasons why private training can be more beneficial than group training.

1. You and your dog will be able to work at your own pace. If you fell behind in group classes before or feel your dog needs more personalized attention, private lessons follow with your dog's progress and train to meet his or her needs.
2. Private sessions can be customized to what you and your dog want to learn. You decide and pick what is taught in each session whether it be tricks, off leash commands, or behavior modification. Many behaviors such as jumping on guests or learning to kennel up on command are things group classes cannot teach as well as personalized training right at the source.
3. You are not committed to a training session every week at the same time. You can sign up for single sessions or weekly sessions at your convenience. Plan around your schedule and your dog's performance.
4. If your dog does not do well around strangers or other dogs, private lessons can help you and your dog without the stress of the public. We can slowly add distractions to our sessions if you choose to, but you are not required to train your dog with other people and dogs around. This will help your dog relax, gain confidence, and focus on training rather than what is going on in the background.
